Born in San Pablo, Laguna, Philippines in 1934. Dalisay was the first of 6 children of Lydia and Rafael Faylona.
They moved to Malabon as a child. She started school late due to the war but still graduated from Abad Santos High School where she met her future husband, Domingo. After graduation, she attended University of the East.
Dalisay and Domingo married on June 8, 1959 and settled in La Loma.
They moved back to Malabon in 1963 to help her mom run the family factory making shirts. She sewed the t-shirts with her mom while her brother, Dakila, sold the shirts.
She managed a small eatery in Malabon with her aunt - Lola Lydia’s sister in law, Lola Turing. When that closed she opened a sari sari store in front of their house.
The year before immigrating to the U.S., she took more advanced courses in sewing - making dresses, pants and using her own patterns.
In 1973, due to Marshall Law, Domingo immigrated to the U.S in Seattle. The following year, Dalisay, with the 2 youngest children, also arrived. They lived in a tiny apartment in the Central District walking distance from Providence Medical Center (Now Swedish Cherry Hill Campus), where Domingo worked. Dalisay also worked there for about 5 years until a close family friend helped her get a job as a seamstress at one the major retail stores in downtown Seattle. She moved on to become a professional tailor for the same company until she retired in 2004.
In 1974, Dalisay and Domingo bought a house in the Beacon Hill area, where they lived with their 7 children until they moved to Brier, WA in 1988.
In her retirement years, she and tatay traveled domestically and abroad. They lived part of the year in the Philippines.
Nanay is survived by her husband, 7 children and 20 grandchildren.
