Dennis Boyd Stonehouse, a life-long resident of the Seattle area, passed away on January 22, 2022, at the age of 68 at the University of Washington Northwest Hospital.
Dennis is survived by his wife, Nancy Stonehouse; his children, David, Brynn (from his first marriage with Colette Crawford), Elise, Jeremy, Josh, Laura (from his second marriage with Colleen Gustafson), and Matthew (with Nancy Stonehouse); and Grandchildren, Amaya, Ava, Aliya, Daxon, Johann, Jayden, and Kayleb. And his sister Denise Santiago of Texas He is predeceased by his Mother Ingrid Stonehouse (nee Henning), and Father Dennis Stonehouse.
Dennis was born on September 21, 1953, at Swedish Hospital in Seattle and grew up in a quaint house in Fremont overlooking the canal. He was a graduate of Lincoln High school in the Wallingford district and in September of 1971 Dennis joined the US Navy and headed out to bootcamp in San Diego, CA with his three best buddies (Larry Meyer, Mark Lindberg, Robert Moselle). He is an honored Hull Tech E5 Navy Veteran, having given 24 years of service to the military, and a retiree of 33 years with Seattle Public Utilities which he retired from in 2017.
Dennis was a man who thrived on routine, he enjoyed reading the Navy Times and the Seattle Times paper every day, was a lifelong fan of football, he never missed a Seahawks game (go HAWKS!), he loved to take his Mustang GT out for joy rides, he made it a regular habit to check in with his children to see what they were all up to, and he took immense pleasure in making his corny dad jokes. Dennis also knew how to cut the rug while listening to some of his favorite musicians. He was a skilled welder and had a dream to make garden art in his retirement as well.
Dennis had many groups of friends that he gained through his unique journey of life. He will be terribly missed, he was incredibly loved, and he wouldn’t want any of us to fuss over him. Just to remember him and the good times we all shared with him.
If you are unable to make it to the service there will be a virtual option to watch the service
A funeral service is scheduled for 1:00pm Friday February 18 ,with reception to follow at same location. Dennis wanted to make sure he stayed close to his family and friends so we would all come visit him.
Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.Evergreen-Washelli.com for the Stonehouse family.
