Preceded in Death by Parents, Sidney H. Sr. & Enid N. Ferguson, and 2 brothers Robert L. Ferguson & Sidney H. Ferguson Jr, Growing up in SW Seattle Diana was the 3rd child of 11 children born to her parents Sidney & Enid Ferguson. As the oldest daughter, Diana was the 2nd mother to the younger children. Her nickname was "Dynamite". She could run faster, climb higher and kick a ball further than any other kid in the neighborhood. When necessary she would take-on and whip any bully that was picking on someone younger.
At the early age of 6 or 7, Diana was badly burned when a spark which had caught on her coat ignited into flames when she went outside to play. The burns covered Diana's mid back down to her upper calves. Diana was treated for her burns in West Seattle and endured many months of painful burn therapy. For years afterward Diana's scars caused her tremendous pain, especially when she was growing. Although Diana was shorter than the rest of her siblings, that did not stop her from "Ruling the roost".
Diana gave birth to son Adam Cromwell Ferguson on January 17, 1972. She was immediately a changed person. This little man caused her heart to go pitter-pat. She was in love.
Diana bought her 1st house in 1975 and proudly fixed it up. She married Jim Rose in April of 1980 and the two of them remodeled the house. They became foster parents to their niece LoisAnn and adopted her in 1989. They purchased a 5th wheel in 1995 and spent more than 10 happy years camping around the state and especially on Lopez island visiting with In-Laws. They bought their 2nd house in 1997 in Des Moines, WA.
Diana developed cancer in her lower jaw area and as with all of Diana's battles; she fought the cancer tenaciously for several years. When it became clear that the end of her life was near, Diana was not yet ready to give in. When a Priest came to her room to give her "Last Rites" She very firmly kicked him out of the room using not so gracious language, and with the help of prayers from her family, Diana rallied. She was able to hang on for another month, allowing all of her family to say their goodbyes.
