Dorothy May Armstrong

-Ephesians 2:8

Dorothy M. Armstrong, Beloved Mother, Grandmother, Great Grandmother, Sister, Aunt, Cousin and Friend, earned her wings on June 7th, 2023, with her daughter Lorraine lovingly by her side.

Dorothy was Born February 13th, 1940 to Nancy Kinney and Woody Armstrong in Monticello, Mississippi where she joined her two older brothers Claude & James Armstrong who have all preceded her in graduation. Dorothy then moved to Seattle, Washington where she attended James A. Garfield high school. After graduating Dorothy began working at Catholic community center as a caregiver for 30 years. She was recognized by the facts when she retired for her dedication and hard work!

Dorothy was a charter member of Tabernacle missionary Baptist church. Her time at Tabernacle strengthened her relationship with God and whenever she had the chance she would preach, teach, and sing the gospel. She had a beautiful voice that would turn heads and a heart for dancing that would make you get up with her. Especially if it was the electric slide!

She loved music but her favorite music was Gospel, R&B, Jazz and lets not get started on her old school music. She also sung at old clubs, house parties & church events. One thing about her is that you can call her, but don't let it be when Victor is on. Something about that Young and the Restless stood with her through time!

If you know Dorothy, you know she couldn't step within 12 feet without playing Spades, Dominoes, Bid Wix, seeing her radiant smiled and her outgoing personality & that's why we love her. She loved without condition and judged no one. She understood that we all have different walks in life and would push those around her to "get your self together" whether that was a relationship with God, your finances or your heart.

Dorothy will be remembered for her loyalty, her nurturing soul, her love for her family, her hard work, her ability to make every one laugh but know "I'm not playing with you", and her perseverance through any tough time. She carried herself with dignity, strength and an unbreakable love for those who passed before her.

To our butterfly, you will be missed but cherished on EVERY SINGLE DOMINOES AND SPADES TABLE & thought about whenever we see leopard print or a butterfly... Thank you for leaving us symbolic memories. We love you!

Dorothy is survived by her 3 children: Lorraine Armstrong, Vivian Armstrong, and Cedric Armstrong (Kimberly Armstrong). 6 grand children: Albert, Tatiana, Terrell, Keisha, Frankie II and Cedric Jr. 7 Great grandchildren: Lemuel, Ayanna, Treveon, Amirah, Aaliyah, Royal and Klayton. 5 siblings: Valerie, Gilbert, Richard, Rachel, and Verdia Kinney. She leaves behind her oldest niece Patricia Yvette Armstrong along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends who love her deeply.

A celebration of life for Dorothy will be held Saturday, July 15, 2023 at Evergreen Washelli Funeral Home, 11111 Aurora Ave N, Seattle, WA 98133. Viewing will start at 12pm, with celebration at 1:00 PM.
