Our dear mother, Dorothy, 90, passed away peacefully in her sleep, May 19, 2013. She leaves with a legacy of love as evidenced by her marriage to Charles D. Lusk Sr. of almost 68 years, her large loving and tight-knit family of five children; eight grandchildren; ten great grandchildren.
The youngest of four children, "Dottie" was born in San Antonio, Texas to Viola and Polk C. Webb. They instilled a strong sense of family and faith.
After her graduation from Austin High School she attended Business College and became a stenographer. She loved to tell the stories of working in the Texas State Congress and taking dictation from Lyndon Baines Johnson. She was a successful young working woman during WWII when she was introduced to our dad by her cousin. It seems it was love at first sight as they soon began their loving journey and were married in Monroe, LA.
Our family moved to Seattle in 1956 when our dad was hired out of the University of Texas engineering department by the Boeing Company. They loved living in the Pacific Northwest and developed loving friendships here. Our mother was a kind and caring person who often put others' needs in front of her own. She enjoyed the company of her children and was happiest when we were having a good time. She was a Cub Scout Den mother, a Campfire Leader and ever our greatest cheerleader. She held down the fort with our dad at our family business, Marine View Cycle and Hobby, during the 1970s so we all had a place to work and to learn the value of an honest work ethic. We all knew she would always be there for us no matter the outcome of any endeavor. We could not have asked for a better mom.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her life partner and loving husband Charles in 2012. She is survived by her five children, Chuck (Tippy), Dick (Jan), Greg (Heidi), Steve and Susie (Tim) and all of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was also blessed with a family of friends who loved her dearly. Her calm and loving counsel will be greatly missed. She had great determination and taught us the power of quiet perseverance. Our mother was also our friend. We will miss her greatly but know she will be welcomed with open arms in Heaven.
