

Dorothy V. Nichols (Dottie), 93, passed away on September 15, 2014 at Virginia Mason Hospital in Seattle, Washington due to complications from a heart attack. She was preceded in death by her husband, Hollis (Nic) Nichols, her parents, Martha and Edwin Moore and her brother, Edwin N. Moore.
Dottie is survived by her son, Edwin (Butch) Nichols, daughter-in-law, Joyce Nichols, granddaughter, Shanie McLaren, her husband, Scott, two great-granddaughters, Sydney and Sienna, her sister-in-law, Stephanie Moore, her niece, Barbara Ash and nephew, Christopher Moore.
Dottie was born in New York City on March 31, 1921. She aspired to be a dancer and attended Ned Weyburn Studios in New York City. She worked in local clubs as a dancer.
Dottie met a handsome Air Force pilot, Hollis (Nic) Nichols from Bellingham, WA, who had been shot down over Germany during WW2, escaped and was passing through New York. They married and traveled extensively until the Air Force released them from duty some years later. They settled in Seattle, WA in 1952.
Dottie took great pride in working for many years as bailiff to three different judges in the King County Family Court system. Her judges say she brought her enormous smile, infectious laugh, daily jokes and sense of humor to the courtroom every day until she retired in the eighties.
Dottie was an active member of Ahmes Court #41 Ladies Oriental Shrine of North America.
Services will be held at Evergreen Washelli Funeral Home, Seattle. WA on Friday 9/26/2014 at 2 P.M.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the charity of choice in Dorothy's name.
