Lloyd Lichty passed away peacefully with family at his side on February 17, 2014. His family was part of the founding pioneers of Sunnyside, Washington where he was born and grew up, his parents being Harold and Stella Lichty. At Sunnyside High School he was class president and in the National Honor Society. He lived there until he enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1943 and served as a corpsman, and while in Seattle he met the love of his life Shirley Joy Sluss. Dad played the trumpet and Mom was a singer so it was a match made in musical heaven. They were married 3 month's short of their 65th wedding anniversary when mom died of cancer in 2011.
Dad used the GI Bill and graduated from the University of Washington School of Medicine in 1956, he then helped established the Edmonds clinic with his long time partner Russ Shaw. He practiced there starting in 1958 until his retirement in 1988 and he worked at Stevens Hospital (now Swedish) in Lynnwood where he was Chief of Medical Staff 1980-84.
He loved playing the guitar, loved humor "Lots!" gardening, traveling, and his family.
Dad will always be remembered for his kindness, generosity, and caring. He was the most awesome father anyone could have had, he had a perpetual upbeat attitude and everyone who met him loved him. He is survived by his sons, Brian, Scott, and Russ, daughter-in-law Sherri and grandson Wayne.
He was an unforgettable person, we love and miss him greatly.
