Ebba was born in Skåne, the very south of Sweden to Bruno and Elsa Fredlund. Bruno was a Lutheran Priest, and Elsa played the organ and led the choir in the same church. Ebba and her four siblings grew up in Allerums prästgård.
Ebba graduated with a degree in Education and worked as a primary school teacher for over 30 years.
Ebba and Ingvar met during a ski trip in the Austrian Alps. They married on March 6, 1965 and settled in Stockholm, where they raised their two children.
In 1983 the family moved to the San Francisco Bay area, and later to the Seattle area. In Seattle Ebba was very active in the Swedish community, including Svenska Kulturförbundet (Swedish Cultural Society), SWEA and the Swedish Club.
Ebba loved outdoor life such as camping, hiking, skiing, boating and swimming, both in Sweden and later in California and the Pacific Northwest.
In the later years of her life Ebba enjoyed taking daily walks along the shores of Lake Washington in Leschi, where she lived, and she continued to swim in the lake past her 90th birthday.
Ebba spent the last year and a half of her life at Kline Galland Home, not far from her and Ingvar’s home in Leschi. Ingvar visited her there every day for lunch and often stayed for dinner too. They both felt very much at home at Kline Galland with both the staff, and the other residents, who made them feel like family.
Ebba will be greatly missed by her loving husband, Ingvar, her children, Britt-Louise and Nils, and her granddaughter, Annika.
A memorial service will be held at Dignity Memorial - Butterworth Funeral Home on Queen Anne Hill, 520 W Raye St, Seattle on June 27 at 11 am. If you plan to attend, please RSVP to: [email protected]
