Edith Mays Steed, age 92, passed away peacefully of natural causes on July 14, 2018. She was born on February 3, 1926, in Boise Idaho, the daughter of Thomas and Minnie Mays. Edith graduated from Boise High School, then went on to graduate from the University of Oregon where she met her future husband Fred Steed. Together they enjoyed 58 years of marriage until his passing in 2006. She is survived by her three daughters Susan Spafford, Margaret Steed (Larry), Teresa Loyd (Robert), 5 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren, and her sister Beverly Fritchman. She returned to school when her girls were older and received a degree in education from the University of Washington and began her career as an elementary school teacher. Edith was an amazing role model for her three daughters. She loved spending time engaging her grandchildren in fun and educational activities. We all enjoyed her competitive spirit, her compassion and great sense of humor. Edith was a member of the Renton Youth Symphony Board, the Lakeridge Garden Club and the Lakeridge Lutheran Church choir . She loved to spend time in her rose garden that so many people admired, and enjoyed hiking, sailing and painting. Edith and Fred were world travelers and "snowbirds" during the winters in Palm Springs. A Celebration of Life to be held at a later date.
