Edna Viola Nelson: December 3, 1920 – August 13, 2021
Edna Viola Nelson was born to Edward (Waagsbo) Nelson and Ida Mary (Christensen) Nelson on December 3, 1920 in Wibaux, Montana. She was one of eleven children and was #10. She had five sisters and five brothers. Her family settled in Faith, South Dakota. Edna attended school in Red Elm and Flint Rock, in a one room school house.
Edna attended Bethel Lutheran Church with her parents and siblings and was also confirmed at that church. Later in life she attended Little Chapel Church in downtown Seattle, New Life Bible Fellowship, Citadel Church, and South Everett Community Church.
In 1937, Edna met Marion (Pat) Loring Myer and they were married April 28, 1938. They had 11 children, 4 born in South Dakota and 7 born in Seattle, WA. In 1963, they had their 11th child, Bradley Thomas Myer, who was born with Down Syndrome. The Lord gave Brad to the right parents and family as Edna was a stay at home mom.
Edna was a God fearing born again Christian, strong woman soldier, and praying soul. She was a funny, smart, kind, forgiving, faithful lady, a good wife and wonderful mom, grandma, great grandma, and great-great grandma.
Edna loved music, playing the piano, going to church, and reading her Bible. She fulfilled her job here on earth. The lord came and took her home. She was a job well done and a faithful servant.
Edna is survived by her sister Noreen Jensen, age 92 of Rapid City, South Dakota and many cousins, nieces, and nephews in South Dakota; six children: Kay Dudley of Seattle, Barbara Nielsen of Almira, Debra Myer of Seattle, Beverly Myer of Seattle, Randy Myer of Seattle, Tracy Myer of Seattle, and for one day Bradly Myer of Seattle; 22 grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren, and 6 great-great grandchildren.
She received her reward in Heaven.
Bye mom! We love you, all of us! Until we meet again.
Bradly Thomas Myer: August 10, 1963 – August 14, 2021
Our Special Gift from God
Bradly Thomas Myer was born on August 10, 1963 to Marion (Pat) Myer and Edna Viola (Nelson) Myer. Bradly was the youngest of 11 children, 6 sisters and 4 brothers. He was born with Down Syndrome but our parents raised him just like all the rest of us. He was our special little brother.
When Brad was two, our mom walked Brad to a home school, by pulling him in a wagon, where other children with special needs were. He then went to school at the Lakewood Church and again mom pulled him there in a wagon. Our parents always made sure Brad would be able to attend school. He attended Wilson Pacific for years and graduated when he was 21.
Brad was in the Special Olympics, playing on the basketball team. He worked in the school lunch room, went to dances, went to his prom, and had a girlfriend. He loved to swim, ride his bike, go to church, and he loved the Lord.
He attended the Little Chapel Church in downtown Seattle for years with his family. He also attended New Life Bible Fellowship, the Citadel Church just blocks from his home, and South Everett Community Church. Bradly always sat in the front row. He loved music and singing at church. His favorite songs were “The King Is Coming,” “He Touched Me,” and “He Is the King of Kings.” Brad and the Lord had a special connection every day with Brad’s Bible. He would softly lay his little hands across the pages of his Bible for a few minutes and he could feel the Holy Spirit.
Brad loved collecting his favorite wrestlers: Hulk Hogan, Jake the Snake, Andrea the Giant, etc…He loved Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, and CHIPS. He loved listening to the Gaithers, the Kroeze Brothers, Olivia Newton john, Donnie & Marie, Barbara Mandrell, and Richard Thompson. He loved the Seahawks but not the Mariners. He would collect hats and jackets of all the teams he liked. He loved Santa and wrote him a letter every year.
Brad adored his church family. He lived for Jesus and was a true soldier in the Lord’s Army. He professed his love for his Savior the Lord Jesus Christ, the King of the Jews, to anyone who would listen. He was pure, perfect, and so very innocent. A true child of faith who had a direct link to God. He cried in church not because he was sad. When asked why he was crying, he said “I’m feeling the Holy Spirit.” He had difficulty with his speech but when he spoke of the Lord from his mouth to God’s ears, his speech was flawless.
Brad was the glue that held our family together. We will miss you Brad with every fiber of our being. You’re in heaven now walking on the streets of gold with mom and daddy. You always wanted to go to heaven and you earned your reward. We know how happy you are with Jesus. Until we meet again.
Brad is survived by his aunt Noreen Jenson and many cousins of Rapid City, South Dakota; 6 siblings: Kay Dudley of Seattle, Barbara Nielsen of Almira, Debra Myer of Seattle, Beverly Myer of Seattle, Randy Myer of Seattle, and Tracy Myer of Seattle; many nieces and nephews, and cousins.
