Edna Turner Erickson Grigg

Was born on September 24, 1908 in Nanaimo, B.C., the third child of Fred and Mary Turner, whose family included early Skagit Valley Pioneers. Her sisters, Hazel Purdy and Elvira Mitchell predeceased her, and she is survived by her brother, Fred Turner. She was a member of the early Mountaineers and in 1931 she married a fellow Mountaineer, C. Gilbert Erickson and they had one daughter, Gail. Gil Erickson died in 1946 and she married Norval Grigg in 1961, another Mountaineer with numerous first climbs to his credit. After 36 years of marriage, Norval died in 1998. Edna died on July 17, 2001, leaving her brother, Fred; daughter, Gail Aistrope; 4 grandchildren, Beth Thompson, David Easton, Diane Cameron, and Mark Aistrope; 5 great grandchildren, Alexandra, Julia, Sage, Madeline and Bryn. She also leaves 6 nieces and nephews, Peter, Linda, Nancy, Lynn, Laura and Steve, and numerous great and great-great-nephews and nieces. She has been a constant and loving support to her extended family and will be an enormous loss to them. A memorial service will be held at Evergreen-Washelli Chapel, Monday, July 23, 2001 at 4:00pm, followed by a gathering of friends and relatives. Memorials are suggested to the charity of your choice.
