Ted mentored two projects near and dear to my heart. One was a low-cost birth simulator to help bring the best training in childbirth care to low-resource settings. More recently, Ted coached my husband's non-profit start-up, Tiny Trees, which aims to make preschool more affordable for Seattle families. Thanks to Ted's help, Tiny Trees won SVP's fast pitch competition for a non-profit startup, which has launched a very meaningful period in my husband's career and will make Seattle a better place for families for many years to come. I feel so lucky to have witnessed Ted's generosity of spirit firsthand. He was so giving of his time and expertise, and has truly made this city a better place to live because of how he chose to direct his energy. Thank you, Ted, for being a wonderful example of how to give back to the community, and an inspiration to my family. 

Ted was incredibly generous, lending time, advice, and support to our startup over the past three years.  He will truly be missed by the community - he had an amazing intellect combined with an even more amazing generosity.

I had the very good fortune of working with Ted when he generously volunteered to help Children's Therapy Center.  I tremendously appreciated his kindness, wisdom and generosity.  A true gentle man!


I metTed through SVP grant making committee he was good man. Good people are never really gone. My deepest condolences to his family during this dark time.


I'm so grateful to have spent even a small amount of time with Ted through his wonderful involvement at Social Venture Partners. A wonderful person to have in the room, focused on doing good, and really didn't take himself too seriously. It's always sad to see a kind person go, but, man, Ted was one of the really good ones. He'll be missed!

Ted was one of those rare and gifted people who continuously gave of himself to help others.  I met him in 2011, when we were both mentors for budding social entrepreneurs.  They gravitated toward him -- first for his brilliance, and then for his warmth and compassionate guidance.  

Every six months or so we would meet for lunch at the Beach Club restaurant in Kirkland.  He'd tell me of his latest endeavor -- at the UW or with Social Venture Partners -- and always offer to make a connection that would be beneficial.  But it was his love of family that topped the list of things we'd discuss. 

To Marie and the rest of the family, I hope the realization of the thousands of people Ted impacted over the years will give you comfort in this time of sorrow.  Peace be with you.

I am deeply saddened to learn of the passing of my friend Ted Weiler. Ted and I worked together on a number of projects for the MG Car Club NW Centre including the huge Tulip Rally held every April. Ted was brilliant, funny, and one of the kindest people I have had the honor of knowing. I will treasure forever the memory of the impromptu snowball fight in our driveway with Ted and Marie on one very snowy day when they hiked to our house as driving was impossible. Although I have not seen him in years, I will miss him very much knowing he has departed from this life. He is gone much too soon, but he has left a legacy of love, teaching, healing, humor, and good will. See you on the other side, Ted.
