Eldon was born November 15, 1925 in Seattle, WA and died peacefully on October 12, 2008 in Everett. He was preceded in death by his parents, Edwin S. and Hazel H. Hawney, and his beloved wife of 20 years, Clair. He is survived by his first wife Jeanne; his children, Sandi Thomas Bill, Cheri Gibson Darryl, Barry Hawney Debbi, Dayna Hawney-Arey Richard, Ronald Rohrer, and Sherry Shafer Mark; and his brother, Edwin Hawney Lee. Eldon attended Lincoln High School, then enlisted in the U.S. Navy. He served aboard the LCI 776 in the South Pacific. That vessel and its crew were awarded the Presidential Unit Citation for its participation in the invasion at Lingayon Gulf on the island of Luzon in the Philippines.
Eldon was a life member and Past Master of Greenwood Lodge #253, Free and Accepted Masons of Washington. He served his lodge as secretary from 1985 until 2006. He also served the Grand Lodge on several committees, and his district as deputy of the Grand Master 1988-89. He also was a member of Occidental Chapter #28 OES.

The family would like to thank Sunrise View Convalescent Center in Everett for their wonderful care of Papa.
