

Eldon Herrin passed away April 21, 2011 of natural causes in Salt Lake City, Utah. He was born in Bellingham, Washington, February 25,1916 to Charles Isaac Herrin and Maude Bell Wilder. He attended several grammar schools throughout the Puget Sound region, junior high school on his beloved Whidbey Island, and high school at Lincoln of Tacoma and Seattle Pacific College.
He enlisted in the Army in March, 1941 and served in the Pacific, North African, and Italian theatres until his discharge in July, 1945. He received the Bronze Star and was cited for bravery under fire. He married Lucy Jeanne Wilcox on February 21, 1944 in Long Beach, California.
He began his career with the U S Postal Service in September, 1945 upon returning to the Seattle area. He retired in May, 1971 after thirty years of combined military and USPS service. Following his retirement he proceeded to do all of the things he had always dreamed of doing. After about six months, he was bored and decided to go back to work. He worked for another ten years supervising respectively the mailrooms for Western Services & Supply, and Washington Mutual Savings Bank in downtown Seattle.
An active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Eldon served as a scouting leader, choir member, ward and stake clerk, and as a worker for nearly twenty years in the Seattle LDS Temple in Bellevue, Washington.
Eldon is survived by his two sons, Richard and his wife Heidi, and Donald and his wife Kerry Lynn; five grandchildren: Zac, Rochelle, Shanel, Taylor, and Whitney; and twelve great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his wife of 57 years, Lucy Jeanne, his sister, Doris M. Wilson, and his two brothers: Clarence H. Herrin and Charles W Herrin.
