

Long time Mercer Island, Washington resident Eleanor Petrie Wible, born on Mothers Day 1922, in Kobe, Japan, the second of ten children of British Christian missionary Arthur Rixon-Green Petrie, deceased, and his American wife, Dorothy Moyle Petrie, deceased, passed away peacefully in her sleep at the age of 102 years on September 9, 2024 at Emerald Heights in Redmond, Washington.
Before moving to Redmond in 2015, Eleanor enjoyed caring for her beautiful 1958 Mercer Island dream home, pool, and gardens. She loved swimming in her backyard pool and having large family pool parties—especially on the 4th of July. She and her sister did aquarobics at the Mary Wayte pool on Mercer Island for over 25 years. She loved baking cherry, apple, blackberry, and rhubarb pies—all from her backyard. Eleanor was an accomplished pianist and vocalist, who played and sang for church services, weddings and funerals. She was a skilled color tinter of black and white photographs, and did a variety of other arts and crafts.
Eleanor is survived by three children, Gary, Sharon, and Dan, nine grandchildren, nine great grandchildren, and five sisters. She was predeceased by her husband of 77 years, Berlyn Wible, one son, one grandson, one great granddaughter, and four brothers.
A Memorial Service for Eleanor will be held Saturday, November 9, 2024 from 11:00 AM at Tabernacle Baptist Church, 16508 8th Ave NE, Shoreline, WA 98155. A Luncheon will be held following the Memorial.
