
Ellen DeChaineau, 89, passed away September 26th, in Kent, Washington. She was born January 28, 1917, in Virginia, Minnesota, to David and Alina Jacobson, but has been a resident in the Seattle area for 65 years. She graduated from Bemidji State College in Bemidji, MN in 1939. She married Al DeChaineau later that year and they moved to Seattle in 1941. She worked at Boeing during World War II, then in an insurance office as a fire and liability underwriter until 1948. Al started a house-moving business in 1947 and Ellen served as bookkeeper and accountant until the sale of their business and retirement in 1977. She was devoted to her family and enjoyed music, gardening, and playing cards and board games. She was also active at St. Paul?s Catholic Church, participating in the choir, 50+ Club, Widows Group and Prayer Group.
She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
Ellen was preceded in death by her husband of 42 years, Alfred DeChaineau. She is survived by her daughter, Cherie DeChaineau of Seattle, WA, two sons: Bob DeChaineau of Seattle, WA and Rick DeChaineau of Tacoma, WA, and sister Nora Jorgenson, of Grand Junction, CO.
A memorial Mass will be said at St. Paul?s Catholic Church 5600 S. Ryan St., Seattle, WA 98178 on Tuesday, October 10, 2006 at 10:00 a.m. A reception will follow at 11:30 a.m. at the Skyway Park Casino Banquet Room at 11819 Renton Ave. S., Seattle, WA 98178.
