Emilia De La Cruz was born on June 20, 1924 in Pasay Metro, Manila, Philippines. She was the eldest among three children. She faced the hardships of life at an early age by helping her parents feed their farm animals. Her stint in a pharmaceutical shop, owned by a close relative, taught her to treat poor and sick people in the community. When her husband died some twenty years ago, she became more active in social and religious work by joining catholic organizations such as; The Mother Butler and Adoracion Nocturna Filipina. She spent her weekends helping priests and lay ministers deliver communion to sick people around the community. She came to Seattle Washington in 1986 and became a U.S. Citizen in 1997. She is a mother of eight children and a proud grandmother of fourteen grandchildren. Certainly, her untimely death will make her missed by all who loved her.
