Dad,
  I already miss you greatly. But you will live on within my heart and mind, and I will always strive to be the person you showed me how to be. I am so grateful, and have been so blessed, to have had you as my father. You are together now with Mom and I can sence your happiness. I only saw Mr. Maddox a handful of times since the days when Robert and I were kids. But I remember those early days well. And when I think of the truly good and kind men I've met in my life, BillMr. Maddox to me is right at the top!

Uncle Bill, I remember as a child being in awe of you and how you could play the piano and saxophone. You were my inspiration for taking up the saxophone as a fifth grader and continuing with it through high school. You were one of the sweetest people I know. You were right up there with grandma. You will be dearly missed but you are in a better place and at peace. Love Bo & Bobbie

Dearest Bill,

You have been such a great neighbor and friend.  We always looked forward to seeing your friendly face and chatting with you over the fence.  You made us feel welcome in the  neighborhood from the first moment we met you.

You were always active, self-sufficient and young at heart, we had no idea of your age.  Your devotion to your beloved wife was truly inspiring.  We hope our marriage can be as wonderful as yours.

You called me your angel when I helped you with your locked garage.  I barely helped yet you were so sweet and thankful.  That was the perfect example of you.  We know that you were really the angel here on earth.

We just wanted you to know that we love you and miss you so very much.  We will always think fondly of you.

Bill was always very kind and considerate of others. He was one of those rare individuals who would never say anything negative about friends, family, or even passing acquaintences.

My thoughts and prayers are with Bill's family at this difficult time.

Grandad,

 I already miss you so much.I just wanted to thank you so much for all of the wonderful memories that I will hold dear to heart for as long as I live. I will always remember you playing the piano and singing to me and how wonderful you were at it. If only I could be that good.  I will miss all of the wonderful stories that you would always share with me and all the little jokes you would play or do to me. You have been a true inspiration in my life and  I can only hope that I will be able to follow in your footsteps in being such a humble, unselfish, and incredible person. I will take all these memories with me and hold them dear to my heart and untill we meet again.I will try myself to be the best grandparent to my grandkids as you were to us a fine example and I feel privaleged to have had that and felt that. Uncle Bull was the greatest uncle ever. I can remember him walking into our isolated farm by Eatonville in uniform with a candy treat for us. He was always there to help with milking, which was by hand. He will be missed. He always would tease me about something I had done when younger.

To the Maddox family,
I'm so sorry for your loss.  These words are hard to express without tears.  I'd like to thank you for sharing your parents with me all these years.  There are so many memories:  the cheery chaperones to numerous events, lively debates over prize winning dahlias versus roses, Dad's favorite candy, alley chats with Jasper, dinnertime calls to come home, everlasting patience and lots of laughs.  They were both so very kind and dear to my heart.

I will always remember Mr. Maddox for his great sense of humor and very clean heart.  Though I only got to spend a few days of my life with him, they were days which had an impact on me and I will always remember.  Most fondly, I remember spending several hours talking with Mr. Maddox and his late wife about their military service during WWII.  It was absolutely fascinating and a real reminder of the great people who served this country ridding the world of fascism for us.  It was easy to see the pride he had for his Marine Corps and his service with them.  

This pride was also seen in his everyday life towards his family.  You could see his passion for life and friends in the easy manner in which he spoke of others.  His loyalty was unquestionable.  

Isn't it fitting then, the Marine Corps motto is Semper Fidelis Always Faithful?  I think that motto embodies Bill's attitude to his family, friends, and country.

Dearest Father

Everyday I am blessed by your life; thankful for the way you raised us, thankful for giving me an example to live by.  You're unselfish loving commitment to our family, you're caring about others and always that sense of humor.  I smile when I remember our teasing and joking with each other.  We always knew you were there for us and you would come to our aid if we called, thanks for all the times you rescued me.  I'm thankful I had the opportunity to tell that you are the greatest man I've ever met.  You have always bowled a three hundred game with me.  Well Dad until we meet again

Grandpa- 

The memories that you have given me I will always cherish. You and Grandma gave me so much love and ever since I was a little girl you have been so devoted to my life. The birthday cakes Grandma made, the silly jokes Grandpa would play on us, the many Dinners at Grandma and Grandpa's house, I will miss these. But thank you Grandpa for all you have given me through out your life. You have touched me in so many ways, that I am so grateful. Even though you you are no longer on this earth you will always and for ever be a part of my life because I will always have the memories and those will never go away. Grandpa thank you for all you have given me and all that you have taught me. I love you so much and I miss you already.

Dear Grandad,
  Thank you for your love.  You always had nothing but encouraging words to say and for that I am forever grateful.  Your sense of humor always brightened my day and your knowlege on pretty much everything kept me in awe. Thank you for your joy through any circumstance, you showed me happiness and peace which in the world today are very rare. The times we spent at your house on the piano just singing and laughing away are some of the most cherishable memories I have. Yo were truly a wonderful man. You have set an amazing example in my life that I will try to live by. You were so kind with the warmest heart! I will always remember you playing the piano and singing me songs when I'd come to vist you. I remember one Christmas when I recieved a small keyboard and you spent the whole day teaching me to play "Silent Night" which I remember to this day. Dear Robin - From the moment I met your father, one Thanksgiving, I knew where you got *your* kind & gentle heart.  I will always remember how gracious he & you were that day, when I could barely walk and we enjoyed a great dinner & dessert, nonetheless.  He had a smile in his voice, and an enthusiasm for life that I thought was very apparent even at that first time of meeting him.

Thinking of you,  Maddox Family.   Bill and Lillian were wonderful neighbors and friends.  If you remember,  Bill taught my Mom, Hazel to drive. Bill was a great male-influence in my childhood.....most probably a tribute to why I stay so close to my children Vanessa, 26, Scotty 23, Kathryn 18.

I knew Lillian and Bill through University Christian Church.  I telephoned Bill after Lillian's death to say that she was such a dear person.  Bill used to provide transportation for Lillian and other members of our Christian Women's Fellowship group way back when.  He waited patiently when we ran late at our evening meetings and always had a smile.
