

Fred Arthur Boone , 95, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather passed away December 11, 2011 in Seattle. Fred was born on February 2, 1916 in Everett, WA to Samuel and Evelyn Boone. He was active in DeMolay and graduated from Everett High School.
Fred married Whilma Bosket July 19, 1941 in Everett, where they made their first home. After the birth of their first child, Gary, they moved to Seattle where Fred, a lifelong newspaper man, joined the staff of the Seattle Times. Their second child, Sandie, was born in 1944.
Fred served in the US Army at San Pedro and the Presidio in San Francisco during World War II. He attained the rank of Tech Sergeant and helped process discharge papers for soldiers after the end of the war.
After his military service, he returned to work at the Seattle Times. He was a member and officer of the Mailer's Union and was known for his honesty and integrity.
Fred kept himself in great physical shape. He enjoyed camping, golfing, gardening, bowling, walking, and ping pong. He was a Life Master bridge player.
Fred is survived by his loving wife of seventy years, Whilma, Seattle; son Gary (Merrily), Manchester, WA; daughter Sandra Haramoto, Shoreline; sister Marion Stephens, Freeland, WA; five grandchildren, (Patrick, David, Scott, Sachi, and Shannon); and four great-grandchildren (Cody, Curtis, Lauren, and Daniel). He was predeceased by his parents, his brother John, and sister Dorothy Eddings.
