

Fukiko ARAKAWA, age 84, of Seattle, passed away on June 21, 2009. She was born on a ship enroute to Japan on June 26, 1924. Her parents, Yamaju and Sawano Arakawa were returning to Japan to visit relatives and friends. She later received her naturalization papers on February 14, 1955. Fukiko attended Broadway High School in Seattle and graduated on June 11, 1942 at the Puyallup Fair Grounds before interment at Minidoka, Idaho. After interment she returned to Seattle and entered the University of Washington. She received her Bachelor of Science Nursing Degree on August 19, 1955. She became a Certified Nurse Practitioner / Associate on December 31, 1981. She enjoyed traveling to Japan and Hawaii. Fukiko often attended the opera and Washington Husky Football Games. Classic Music kept much of her interests. She is survived by her brother, George Arakawa, sisters, May Takizawa, Hisako Arakawa and niece, Karen Takizawa. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM on Wednesday, July 8th at Evergreen - Washelli Funeral Home Chapel, 11111 Aurora Ave. N., Seattle, WA 98133. Services will conclude with a coffee reception hour following in the Chapel Foyer. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Fukiko's memory to Seattle Keiro, Kin On Health Care Center, or your favorite charity.
