Bucky is survived by his wife of 39 years, Pari; children Sonya Takasaki, Michelle (Tyler) Abbott, and Noel Kawika Takasaki; and grandchildren Malia and Makai Takasaki. He is preceded in death by his parents Moses and Carolyn; brothers Moses "Sonny," Jerry, and John "JP"; son Scott; and first wife Roberta.
Born in Honolulu on March 16, 1943, Bucky was the third of four boys. After graduating from University High School in 1961, he attended the University of Hawaii. While living in Japan to discover his roots, he enlisted in the US Army and served from 1964 to 1967.
He was a man of many talents: a commercial fisherman, skilled carpenter, Shiatsu massage therapist, and successful business owner. Bucky was the longest-standing member of the Bahá'í community in Shoreline, having moved there from Hawaii with his then-wife and two sons in 1974. After his first wife passed, he married Pari and together they had two daughters. He was an avid reader, golfer, loyal Mariners fan, and loved going back to the Hawaiian Islands at every opportunity.
Bucky's words of wisdom and calm demeanor will be sorely missed. He was the most tolerant, patient, steady person, and under all conditions - content. Never interested in complaining, he was the sort of person who accepted what came and kept moving forward. He was always the first to welcome newcomers to gatherings, to sit and chat with guests, and to invite them back.
Bucky leaves behind many friends and fond memories. The family wishes to acknowledge with deep appreciation the many acts of kindness and support during this time of bereavement. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to a veteran's organization of your choice. Members of the Baha'i Faith may contribute to any Baha'i Fund.
The funeral service will be at Evergreen Washelli funeral home on Monday, March 11, 2019 at 2pm. Refreshments will be served in the Celebration Hall of the funeral home immediately following the internment.
