Born in Seattle, WA on November 24th, 1942, to parents Honus and Betty Hofeditz. She grew up in North Seattle, Broadview area with her younger sister Nancy. Graduated from Lincoln high school class of ’61. Went to Western Washington University in Bellingham before becoming a flight attendant or “stewardess” as they were known then.
Married in the early 60’s and had her daughter Tobi Ann. Lived in Ohio for a short time before returning to Seattle to raise her daughter. Tobi married Scott Horne in Feb 1994 and later had Geri’s two grandsons, Jared and Parker. Geri was so proud of her grandson’s and enjoyed watching them grow up. Family dinners and holiday celebrations were frequent at the Horne’s.
Geri worked for Parker Paint Co. for almost 30 years, mostly as their window and wall covering specialist as well as an interior decorator.
She met and married Joe Toro in 1984 and the two were married for 18 years. Geri gained a stepson, Samson Toro with this marriage who she loved dearly. She enjoyed spending time with him and his wife Glenda and their children, Josh, Samson and Morgan. Geri was involved in the organizing of social activities for the Longshoremen and Puget Sound Yacht Club and became an avid golfer. She enjoyed her many golf trips with her girlfriends.
In 2008 Geri reconnected with a former high school boyfriend from Lincoln High, Steve Trulson, whom she hadn’t seen in almost 50 years. They were together for 13 years living a life that most people dream of. The two traveled internationally, often for 2-3 months at a time. They visited 16 countries, just Steve and Geri and a car. Geri’s favorite countries were New Zealand, Italy and France. They spent multiple months in each. Unfortunately, COVID and Alzheimer’s cut their travels short.
Their summers were spent at their Green Lake home and their cabin in the mountains of SW Montana near the town of Philipsburg. Winters were spent at their condo in Kihei, Maui.
Geri had friends throughout the world including many in Montana and Maui. She was adored by the people who knew her. She kept in contact with her friends in the Seattle area on a regular basis, as she treasured their friendship greatly.
She passed away on March 17th with Steve, her daughter Tobi and her family at her side.
A happy life, well lived leaves us full of joy and fabulous memories. Thank you Geri.
We Love you and will miss you dearly.
