Loving husband, father and ?Papa?, avid golfer and retired Safeway store manager, passed away on March 5, 2004. Born on October 29, 1935 in Ellensburg, WA, he was the only child of Harold and Betty Glass. Chick, after graduating from Grant High School in Portland, OR, joined the Marine Corps where he served from 1955 to 1958 and advanced to the rank of Sergeant before his discharge. That same year he went to work for Safeway. Known for his strong work ethic, he managed Safeway stores for 31 years until his retirement in the spring of 1992.
Chick will be remembered for his great personal integrity, his dry uncensored sense of humor and his tender heart. He loved his ducks, he loved his dogs, he treasured his friends and he loved sports, especially golf. He enjoyed being a snowbird and the 10 years he served as chairman of the Suni-Sands Golfers in Yuma, AZ. But most of all, more than anything, Chick loved his wife of 43 years, Kathi and his sons, Todd and Tony and his grandchildren. He was also a devoted father-in-law, brother-in-law, and uncle who cared deeply about all of his extended family. We will miss him. He will live in our hearts forever.
Chick is survived by his wife, Kathi, of Everett, WA, his son Todd A. Glass and fianc?e Amy Newstrom of Carnation, WA and his son, Tony C. Glass and daughter-in-law Amy Glass of Everett, WA; and his four grandchildren, Sarah, Joshua, Cameron and Stasia.
In keeping with Chick?s wishes, there will be no funeral or memorial services. Remembrances may be sent to Northwest Harvest, 711 Cherry St., Seattle, WA.
