Helen L Ross passed away at age 86 on January 5, 2010 in Seattle, Washington. She was born on the farm just outside of Kathryn, North Dakota to Ole and Lena Helgeson. She went between the farm and Kathryn when young, depending on her fathers wish to be a farmer or a carpenter. Later she worked at the Creamery in Fargo and later at her brother Oscar Lee's Restaurant, Tavern. In the early 40s she followed her boy friend Henning who enlisted in the Navy to Seattle. They were later married and lived in a basement apartment of Henning,s mother in Seattle. While there they had a son (Jack) and later purchased a home in north Seattle. She went to work for Boeings as a clerk and was there for 32 years. At this point Henning had been retired for several years and told Helen to retire so they could go to Arizona, if not he was going to have to go alone and find some squaw to shack up with. It took some convincing but Helen agreed and they went to Arizona in 1982. Once they got there ( Apache Junction) she became so involved with the activities and the sights she fell in love with being there and could hardly wait to go back down the next fall. Her activities included Bowling,Pinochle,Bingo and other card games several times a week and an occasional trip to Laughlin Nevada for gaming.
She is survived by her husband Henning, sister Manda, son Jack, daughter inlaw Vicki, grand daughters Carmen and Shawna and great grand children Shalena and Tanner. Also several cousins, nephews and nieces.
She was also a charter member of the Eagles and The Sons Of Norway.
She will be eternally missed by all of us and God Bless the keepers of the new world where she now resides.
