Ida M. Gooodrich was born in Elsberry, Missouri to Earnest and Ollie Goodrich. She spent her youth in the Missouri river bottomlands country northwest of St. Louis. In 1930 she married Thomas A. Nack. Together, they raised two sons, Thomas P. Nack of Whidbey Island and Robert A. Nack of West Seattle.
Ida and Tom settled in St. Louis, where Tom worked in the brewery business and they remained until 1948, when they relocated to Memphis. In 1952 the family moved west, to Seattle. Ida and Tom lived in West Seattle, where Ida was active with her church and several bridge clubs. She was an excellent bridge player and enjoyed playing with many different groups of players over the years, treasuring her many friendships. After Tom's retirement, Ida and Tom moved to Maury Island and tended a beautiful garden. Ida grew the largest tomatoes! Her grandchilden also enjoyed the abundant crops of blueberries, raspberries, and cherries. She was an excellent gardener and kept up a very large yard, growing gorgeous flowers and amazing vegetables. She and Tom enjoyed retirement together until his passing in 1978.
Over the years, Ida traveled to many places. In earlier years she visited her son Tom and his family as they moved throughout the world. In later years she continued to travel, with friends and family. Ida always enjoyed entertaining. She loved a good party and cherished time spent with her family.
In 1980 Ida married Clarence Young, who died in 1986. In the 1990s Ida moved back to West Seattle, living in the Alaska Junction and later at Daystar Retirement Village.
Her siblings, Bertha, Emmet, Alice, and Margaret, predeceased her. Ida is survived by her son, Tom (Miriam), their children, Nissa Nack (Bob Flock), Tamara Nack (Derek White), Thomas Nack (Theresa Tiede), and Pattie Barclay (Don); and son Bob (Dorli), their children, Christine Nack (Kirk Hopkins) and Renee Patterson (Nathan), and six great-grandchildren, Russell and Miriam Flock; Michael and Ryan Barclay; and Sylvie and Max Patterson.
