Irene Marjorie Mason

Born in Alexandria MN August 2, 1921; one of 11 siblings born to John and Clara Sundberg.

She died at the age of 103 on January 6, 2025 in Everett WA. Irene moved to Longview WA in 1937 where her older siblings lived.

She joined the US Navy Waves during WWII and was stationed in Pasco WA where she met her future husband and love of her life, Eugene (Gene) Mason.

After the war they lived and raised their family in Ballard. At the age of 94 Irene moved to WA Oakes retirement home where she enjoyed new friends and the wonderful caring staff.

She enjoyed life to the fullest and was adventurous traveling to many countries. Among her favorite things were time spent with family and friends, golf, playing card and other games, good food, a good laugh and a glass of wine.

She is survived by her daughter, Lynn (Jim) Carlsen; son, Bruce Mason; grandchildren Jamie (Josh), Jill (Brian), Jeff (Kelly), great-grandchildren Nathan, Maxwell, Makena, Brenner, Jeb and extended family and friends. Preceded in death by husband ten siblings and many lifelong friends.
