It is with great sorrow to inform you of the untimely death of our dear Jenan on August 3, 2014. Born September 9, 1952 to Dorothy and George Wasmund, big sister to Marlece Wasmund and Paula Williams (Ed). She lived her entire life in Seattle, and jokingly said she had only moved a mile from where she grew up. She spent her high school years involved in several organizations, including Concert Band and Marching Band, where she played saxophone. She was a true Ballard Beaver fan. After High School she went to the University of Washington majoring in History and Latin American Studies, but really her main focus was her participation in the Husky Marching Band and going to all the Husky games. After her first job at Totem House Fish and Chips, she started her career at The University Bookstore, and carried just about every job title there. She loved working there, it kept her connected to the Huskies and she remained there for over 30 years. She had a short stint working at a scrapbooking store, and when the opportunity came along, she began her final career with Inside Passage, and her sister, Marlece. She became an instrumental part of the business and was Marlece's right hand. The Inside Passage crew used to joke, because they had said Marlece and Jenan looked so much alike that when it was difficult for Marlece to attend some of the shows, they would say it doesn't matter they think Jenan is Marlece anyway! She had a knack to be friends with all of her customers but became lifelong friends with some. We know her loss will be felt by them all. The close bond that Jenan, Marlece and Paula shared through their childhood continued into adulthood. They had so many tradition that were observed throughout the year, Christmas, Thanksgiving and birthdays being some of the favorites. Jenan, Tom, Marlece, Paula and Ed made it a priority to have dinner every Friday night, and would often be joined by Taylor, Troy and Laurin. It just became one more family tradition, to add to so many. Many times they were asked how they remained so close and the answer was always the same, we just love each other. She was Marlece and Paula's sister, mentor, rock, and very best friend and the thought of being without her is daunting. She married the love of her life, Tom Madden and just celebrated their 25th wedding anniversary. They went on a cruise to Alaska in early July to celebrate and she told us just how much fun it was and how much she enjoyed being there with Tom, Donna and Frank. Tom's family includes parents Donna and Dale Madden, his brothers Jim (Milniece Kerns), Jerry (Sheryl) and Bob (Marsha Hudson) Uncle Frank Besancon and countless cousins. Her interests were many and varied; she volunteered tirelessly with the University Lions Club and referred to the club members as her Lions ladies and guys She loved all forms of needle crafts, including making costumes for the kids, cross stitch, crocheting quilting and knitting. She had just started a new embroidery business; "Stitches by Boo" that she was so excited about. Gardening was another priority in her life, and she spent countless hours working in her flower and vegetable gardens. She was so proud of the things she could accomplish and the amount she could grow. There really wasn't much that she couldn't do. Her biggest priority however was the love she had for her family and friends, including her beloved nieces: Laurin Williams, Christy Jones, Jenna and Alice Madden, Christina Hoggard (Kyle), Anastasha Kerns, cherished nephews Taylor and Troy Williams, Jeremy, Ryan, Colin (Madison) Madden, Griffyn Pitcher, and her Inside Passage family, Lisa, Liz, Georgia and Karen along with countless friends. She has left an enormous hole in all of our hearts, and we hope that she is having a peaceful walk on the beach with her mom and dad on each side of her and Millie at her feet. We will celebrate her fabulous life on August 12, 2014 at 2pm, Evergreen Washelli: 11111 Aurora Ave. N. Seattle 98133. Memorials can be made to: University Lions Foundation C/0 Paul Fenton, 4511 NE 93rd St., Seattle 98115.
