
Jerry was born in Spokane, WA, on March 2, 1935, and died on June 4, 2016 at his home in Seattle. He was preceded in death by Eleanor, his beloved wife of 32 years, and his parents, Marie and Edward Gallagher.
Jerry graduated from O'Dea High School in 1953 and attended the University of Washington.
He was the proprietor of Jerry Gallagher Bookkeeping Service at Fishermen's Terminal in Ballard, where he specialized in business accounting and tax returns preparation for fishermen.
Jerry was soft spoken, very kind and intelligent, and had a great sense of humor. He enjoyed being with his family and seeing his grandchildren grow. He loved to play golf. He was an excellent cook and baker of both savory and sweet dishes. A skillful woodworker, Jerry built many wonderful treasures for his family. Jerry cared for Eleanor with beautiful tenderness and fortitude throughout her long struggle with Alzheimer's. He was happy and proud that Eleanor was able to remain with him in their home until her passing in April 2010.
Jerry is survived by his siblings, Dorrine Moreland, Patrick Gallagher, and Sally Gibbs, of Alaska, where they and Jerry and their parents resided for many years; his children, Mary Bea Gallagher (Miguel Giacomo), Kathy Gallagher (Larry Greenberg), Kelly Jewell (Paul), Jay Gallagher, and Cheryl Scott (Gerard); his grandchildren, Dana and Sarah Jewell, Alison Weiss (Brian), Spencer Scott, and Alex Greenberg; and numerous nieces and nephews.
