Joan was born on April 2, 1948 in Elizabeth, NJ to Paul and Ethel (Wicks) Rodriguez. She was a woman of faith with a close relationship to God. Joan is survived by her two brothers Paul Rodriguez and Barry Rodriguez, two sisters Linda Serino and Nancy Haas, daughter Jessica (Finn) Costa and husband Phil Costa, sons Joshua Finn and Norman Hall, her grandchildren Cameron Costa, Chloe Costa, Scarlett Hall as well as her mother Genevieve McLaughlin, and many nieces, nephews, as well as grand nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her mother and father, as well as her nephew Paul Rodriguez, Jr.
Joan enjoyed crafting, knitting, painting, photography, hiking, and above all spending time with family and loved ones. When she was young, she attended the Art Institute of Boston. After helping raise her three children, Joan attended Loretta’s School of Cosmetology to pursue a career as a hairdresser. She worked as a hairdresser in Massachusetts for many years before relocating to Juneau, Alaska. She continued her career in Juneau where she made many new friends, was able to be close to some of her family, and enjoy her passions of photography, hiking, and being outdoors. Joan will be missed by many. She will be remembered for her compassion, willingness to listen and help others, her contagious laugh, and her smile that would brighten the room. She will be missed by her many friends and her family that she has created fond memories with over the years.
