Joan Kolnes, 95, of Seattle was called to the Lord on October 17th. She was born in Kvæfjord, Norway and emigrated to Ballard with her family when she was 11. She married Enok Kolnes in Seattle in 1937. Together they enjoyed frequent travel to their favorite places in Norway and California. Joan was a member of the Daughters of Norway, Inga Frodesen Guild, and Phinney Ridge Lutheran Church. She was predeceased by her husband, Enok and brother, Olaf Rockness. She leaves behind two sisters-in-law, as well as numerous nieces and nephews in Norway and Washington State. The family extends its gratitude for the excellent care she received at the Norse Home. A memorial service will be held at Phinney Ridge Lutheran Church on Friday, October 21, 2011 at 11:00 am.
