Born June 27, 1923 in New York City, died on April 1, 2009 in Bothell. After earning her RN, Joan worked for several years as a lay missioner in rural Mississippi, nursing and teaching school. Twenty years in The Navy Nurse Corps included a tour of duty in Vietnam. Many of her retirement years included volunteer services with Group Health Hospice, Harborview Burn Unit, Meals-on-Wheels, Northshore Senior Center, and a variety of church activities. Travel was a frequent enjoyment.
