

Joanne lived in Seattle her entire life, attending Madrona Elementary, Garfield High School and the University of Washington. She was a member of Garfield Golden Grads, West Seattle Art Club, and University Presbyterian Church. She was active in Camp Fire Girls when her daughters were in school. Joanne retired from Seattle Public Schools Nutrition Services in 1989. She and Frank enjoyed traveling and meeting new people, often with Lions Club, and walking around Green Lake. After Frank's death, Joanne continued to travel with her sister-in-law Kay Fisher, all around the world. She also walked around Greenlake as often as she could, stopping to speak periodically with other walkers. Joanne loved to cook and bake and entertain in her home of 68 years.
She was preceded in death by her husband Frank Cheever in 1994. Joanne is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law; Sue and Dan Parnel, Peggy and Kerry Biddle, Colleen and Doug Smith, Junko and Peter Valle, eight grandchildren; Matt Parnel (Maria), Jeff Parnel (Leandra), Amy Faire (Brody), Kelly Ritchie (Matt), Cooper Smith (Kristen), Leah Smith and six great grandchildren; Mckinley Parnel, Jacelyn Parnel, Mae Parnel, James Parnel, Addison Ritchie, Davis Faire. She also leaves many nieces and nephews, cousins, including Mary and Tom Sharpe and Barbara Sharpe, and sisters-in-law Kay Fisher and Jacqueline Carr.

A Memorial Service for Joanne is scheduled for 1:00 PM Wednesday, May 4, 2022 at University Presbyterian Church, 4540 15th Ave NE, Seattle, 98105.
