She was born in Lansing, IA and raised in Sparta, WI by her parents, Claude David and Anna Brudos Cade. She had four sisters and three brothers: Arleen, Helen, Xena and Dorothy and Donald, Charles, and Ledford.
After high school, Kit moved to Chicago with her sister Arleen, where she worked until she enlisted in the Coast Guard as a Spar. She was in the second group of women inducted into the Coast Guard during World War II in 1943 and was discharged in June of 1946 as a Chief Yeoman. She loved serving her country and was proud of her service.
She met her future husband, Scott, while still in the Service and they married July 10, 1946. They had 60 wonderful years together and raised four children in the Phinney Ridge neighborhood of Seattle.
Kit's greatest joys were raising her family, using her expert sewing skills for her family and making the shirts for the Miss Exide hydroplane crew she and Scott were so involved with. She was also a wonderful cook.
After the kids left home, she resumed her love of art and painting. Watercolor became her medium of choice and she won many awards for her lovely paintings. She was truly happy when she was creating.
Kit moved to Foundation House in Bothell about seven years ago. There she made many new and wonderful friends, many with the same love of painting as she.
She will be greatly missed by her daughters and their families: Lynn (Myron) Phillips, children; Cari Reed and her sons Caleb and Jordan. Darren Phillips and daughter Kaleighe. Julaine (Eric) Hvass and children Jacob, Jayden and Vanessa. Kim (John) Johnson, their children Jason Johnson; children Svea and Lucian, Jennifer (Martin) Hunt and Zachary Johnson.
