Leretha Jackson Chappelle Russell

Leretha was born July 15, 1925 in New Orleans Louisiana. The second daughter for James and Corrine Jackson. One of 12 children Leretha even as a little girl she had a great maternal heart. From washing diapers to trying to cook at a very early age. To buy 25 cent Christmas tree. Leretha always put Family first even before herself. The Jackson Family migrated to Seattle Washington in the late 1940's. Leretha moved to Seattle in 1946. The Jackson Family became members of First A.M.E. Church under the leadership of Revered E.D. Chappelle. During this time Laretha met Herbert B. Chappelle Jr. the nephew of Rev. Chappelle. The two were married November 29, 1947. From their marriage came 3 Sons Edward, James, Charles and 1 Daughter Sharon. Leretha will be remembered for her Southern Hospitality and a remarkable talent for baking cooking canning and more. Her Nursing skills and just her unconditional loving humanitarian heart. She did every thing in her power to keep the assemblence of Family alive. Frequently having family dinners and trying to bring every one closer together. Leretha lost Herbert Chappelle April of 1979 after 32 years of marriage. How ever she was blessed with her second marriage to Lawrence L. Russell on February 14, 1981. Leretha unfortunately lost Lawrence in August 1981 after only 6 months of marriage. A strong dedicated Christian Woman she survived the lost of two husbands and over came numerous difficulties. Diagnosed in 1996 with the diseases of Alzheimer's/ Dementia Leretha began a long slow decline in mental and physical health. Moved together with her daughter in 1997 and the two have been on a long lonely loveless journey ever since. And now the time has come for GOD to take Leretha home. Where she'll be able to WALK and TALK again and suffer no more pain or hurt. Leaving behind her earthly body in exchange for her heavenly one.

Blanche Woods H ouston TX 1 Brother Harry Jackson Seattle WA. 3 Sons Edward Chappelle, James Chappelle, Charles Chappelle Seattle WA. 1 Daugher Sharon Chappelle West Covina, California. 4 Grandsons, 1 Granddaughter, 1 Great grandson and 2 Great Granddaughter. And a host of Nieces Nephews and Friends
