She married Karl Martinez on November 20, 1937 on Bainbridge Island, WA. They made their home and raised their family in Seattle, WA, where Karl worked for the Boeing Company for over 40 years. He preceded Lillian in death on October 18, 2008. She was a lifelong member of 13th Church of Christ, Scientist, charter member of the View Ridge Swim Club, member of the Fraternal Order of Elks and Order of Eastern Star where she sang in their chorale group. She briefly attended the University of Washington leaving college to become a fulltime homemaker and mother. Her love of arts continued throughout her whole life. She enjoyed going to the Symphony, painting with water colors, writing and reading poetry, singing and playing music on the piano and the organ. She was both a member and contributor to her Fine Arts Study Club and Garden Club while living in the Ravenna and Hawthorne Hills neighborhoods. A master of what some call "heirloom" skills, Lillian was a talented seamstress and knitter making hats, sweaters, afghans and dresses for herself and her daughters and grandchildren. She was an avid cook, bread maker, and baker. Her yard was a showplace of colorful plants and flowers. Together with Karl, she enjoyed travel, especially ocean cruising, and visited many foreign countries and almost all of the 50 states. She loved telling stories about her early life to her grandchildren and they loved hearing them. Lillian is survived by her two daughters, Kay Leslie and husband Tom and Sherry Engebritsen; two grandchildren, Charlene Randle and husband Scott and David Leslie and wife Christine; four great grandchildren, Carmen, Giovonna, Matthew and Sophia; and numerous nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews. She was preceded in death by her sister, Esther McCoskrie. Lillian resides with the Lord now but will be dearly missed by her family and friends.
