
Seattle resident for 42 years went to be with the Lord on Saturday, August 21, 2004. He died at his home with his wife of 60 years, Gayle, at his side. Bill was born in Eldora, Iowa, on August 20, 1918. He was raised along with six brothers and one sister on a farm in Roland, Iowa. Bill joined the United States Navy in 1939, serving in the Aleutian Islands during WWII. He continued his military career retiring in June 1962, then moved his family to Seattle. Bill worked for the Boeing Co. for a short time then attended Edison Technical School learning appliance repair. He worked in this field until his retirement in 1983. Bill was a member of the University Presbyterian Church since 1962 and served seven years as a deacon. Bill is survived by his wife Gayle, sister Sue of Story City, Iowa, his daughter Linda, and his son Tom Bonnie. Also surviving are four granddaughters: Sara Matt, Victoria Shawn, Molly and Jennifer, as well as two great-grandsons Jake and Julian. He was preceded in death by his brothers, his granddaughter Julie and his great-grandson Addison. Bill?s greatest joy was his family with whom he loved camping and family gatherings. He was a true sports enthusiast and a good athlete in his day. He loved watching any sporting event but especially Mariner baseball, Husky football and Husky women?s basketball. The Memorial service to celebrate Bill?s life will be held Thursday, Aug. 26th, 2004 2:00pm at University Presbyterian Church. 4540 15th Ave NE, Seattle, WA 98105.
