Our beloved Auntie Mame passed away peacefully at home with her family by her side on Friday, July 31, 2015. She was born in Lynn, MA on August 15, 1935 to Harold G. Marshall Sr. and Doris Claire Murphy. Marilyn worked as a secretary at the Massachusetts State House during the Kennedy years. She then followed her dream of becoming an airline stewardess during the "glamorous" era and moved to New York City in 1960. She flew for American Airlines for over 30 years. Marilyn met David Grant the love of her life on a flight from New York to San Francisco. They married after the no marriage ban was eliminated by the airlines- sadly David passed in 1979. In 1987 she married Michael Solimando, retired police chief of Emerson, New Jersey. In 2007 Marilyn moved across the country to be closer to family. We are forever grateful for the time we had with her at the end of her amazing life. The family would like to thank Dr. Henry Li and all the other wonderful doctors and nurses at the Polyclinic who took care of Marilyn. Marilyn is preceded in death by her husband Michael Solimando, her siblings Hal, Delores, Patricia and Carol. She leaves behind sister-in-law Nancy Marshall, nieces Andrea Metcalf (Mark), Dianne Cox (Dan), Debbie Holloway, nephews Brian Marshall (Andrea Lee), Hal Marshall (Judy), grandnieces, Ashly, Madelyn, Abigail, Eleanor, Gabrielle, Alyssa, Emma and grand-nephews Jason and Brendan. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Leukemia And Lymphoma Society or MDS Foundation.
