Marjorie Levar was welcomed into the world by her parents Adolph and Gertrude Levar on March 26th 1939. Joining her older sister JoAnn to complete the family.
A life long Washingtonian she was raised in the Seattle area. She attended Lincoln high school class of 1956 and graduated from the University of Washington with a degree in education. She was a brilliant student, graduating magna cum laude and was a member of the Phi Beta Kappa Society. Her degree led her to a position as a financial analyst for New England Life. She retired after 37 years with the company.
Marjorie was a committed fan of the Mariners. A long time season-ticket holder who knew all of the stats for all the games and all of the players. She also had season tickets for the ballet and opera. She especially loved Swan Lake and looked forward to the annual performances of the Nutcracker. She enjoyed the classic operas her favorite being La Bohème.
Although she never drove, she was equally passionate about exploring the local area with her friends and Alkai tours. She loved the beauty and diversity of our area. Everything from visiting the local pumpkin patches each year to exploring the beauty of the San Juan Islands. She was a longtime supporter of the Mountain to Sound Greenway Trust.
Her loyalty to her friends and family, and the things she cared about was paramount. They recall her as a quiet and private person albeit with strong opinions, particularly about politics. Although she may have disagreed with her friends politics or other issues, it did not matter when she was a friend, she was a friend for life. Loyalty means giving me your honest opinion, whether you think I’ll like it or not. – General Colin Powell
Marjorie’s attitude towards life as “life is what it is accept it and move on”. Even during her battle with cancer, she never fretted or complained. Instead, keeping meticulous notes and records. She was blessed to never succumbing to the frequent side effects of her chemotherapy and other treatments and was able to remain in her home at Skyline until the end.
Marjorie’s life ended quietly at home on June 10th 2020.
