

Mark was a beloved husband, father, son, brother and friend. He passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, February 8, 2017 on San Juan Island. Mark was a Seattle native, born at University of Washington Hospital on May 7, 1967. He grew up in both Seattle, Washington and Oceanside, California. He graduated from Everett High in 1986. He met his wife, Crystal, while attending Palomar Community College in San Marcos, California. They were married on February 24, 1990.
Mark and Crystal moved to Seattle in 1993. He received his undergraduate degree in Biology at the University of Washington and a Master’s Degree in Marine Biodiversity and Conservation from Scripps Institute of Oceanography at the University of California, San Diego.
Mark loved fisheries and environmental sciences. He owned his own ornamental tropical fish business at the age of 22. He worked at the University of Washington School of Fisheries hatchery, Schuchart Commercial Builders, the University of Washington Office of Animal Welfare, and most recently, he was the Administrator of the University of Washington’s Friday Harbor Labs on San Juan Island.
Mark had a warm smile and big heart. He enjoyed cooking, photography, music, hiking and camping in the mountains of Washington State. He especially loved beach combing with his family and teaching his two girls about the flora and fauna of the seashore. He is survived by his wife, Crystal Tetrick, daughters Mackenzie and Delaney, his parents, Betty and George Tetrick and his brother, Paul Weller and his wife, Fern.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, March 4 at Bleitz Funeral Home in Fremont. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to www.youcaring.com/mackenziedelaneytetrick-764586.
