Martha was preceded in death by her grandsons David Pomerville and Eric Head, sons Russell Head, Wayne Pomerville and Warren Pomerville and her sister Marguerite Myrtue. She is survived by her husband Jerry L Peterson, daughter Susan Markley nee Pomerville, son Jerry A Head, Sister Louise Jahoda, two nieces Terry Lou and Jackie Lynn and nephew Steven Dillard, and numerous grandchildren, and great grandchildren.
Martha was a very giving person. She gave her love, her advice, something to eat, usually something sweet, like when you were down and she wanted you to feel better. You knew she loved her kids and would help them in any way she could, often putting aside her own needs.
Martha grew up in New Halem Washington at the City light project where Grandpa Warren Derrick was a railroad foreman. To go to Queen Anne High school Martha worked for a family in Seattle, earning her room & board. The one room "Standard School" in New Halem did not teach high school. She did attend high school in Concrete Washington too. She also attended a business school and worked as a bookkeeper for the railroad. Later in life she obtained her real estate license.
Martha married Joseph Pomerville when she was 18. Warren was adopted at 11 days old in 1946. Four years and a month later Wayne was born and Susan came along just 15 months later.
Arlie Head and Martha married in 1963. Gerald "Jerry" was born in 1964 and Russell in 1967. Mom purchased "Jim Creek", which became the family's recreational property. We spent many happy times there. Thank you Mom for providing the glue that held us all together.
Jerry L Peterson and Martha were married in April 1988. Their marriage provided much love and affection and the financial security that was so important to Martha.
Martha enjoyed sewing, knitting, reading, crossword puzzles and cooking. Family was her number one priority. While growing up in New Halem she learned to read music and play the piano and the saxophone and used to play at dances. She also liked to sing.
She will be greatly missed by all who loved her. She will be easily remembered in the eyes of my brother and every time I look at my daughter or even when I look in the mirror. Our lives have been blessed by her loving care.
