Mary Grimes, 90, passed away peacefully after a brief illness on October 16, 2010 in Seattle. She was born in Danvers, MA to Adam and Albina Mozejko. After high school Mary worked as a secretary, then look a civil service job in Trinidad during WWII. On leave in Barbados in 1944, she met Air Corps Captain Kenneth F Grimes, whom she married seven days later. Soon after, she joined Ken at his duty station in Panama. They settled in Seattle where they raised three children.
Mary loved to dance and enjoyed many international trips with Ken in the 60s and 70s, often related to Ken's Shrine events. She was active for several years with Daughters of the Nile. Mary took much pleasure in reading, was a consummate shopper and a dedicated homemaker. Her highest pursuit, however, was the devoted care and nurturing of her family: providing a comfortable home for her husband, encouraging her beloved children, and treasuring her two granddaughters. Her laughter and her independent spirit will be sweetly missed.
Mary is survived by her husband of 66 years, Ken; sons Kenneth (Linda) Grimes of Seattle and Michael (Linda) Grimes of Encinitas, CA; daughter Pamela (Randy) Spoo of Snohomish; granddaughters Danielle (Craig) Van Sickle of Anchorage and Samantha (Jeffrey) Tanner of Newport Beach, CA; brothers Joseph (Anna) Mozejko of Danvers and Dr. Albert Mozejko of Forest Grove, OR; sisters-in-law Gladys Rose and Thelma Coombs, both of Eugene, OR; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by brothers Cleophas Mozejko of Danvers and Edward Marzerka of Milwaukee, and sister Clara Holmes of Fairfield, CA.
