Maxine Ruffin Connally was born February 9, 1913 in Omaha, Texas, departed this life on March 30, 2014. Maxine was the third child born to John Henry Ruffin and Mattie Lee Dixon. Maxine married Montcue Connally (deceased) on November 18, 1931 and to this union was born eight children. Maxine moved to Seattle in 1954 and was united with the Greater Mount Baker Baptist Church where she remained a loyal, faithful member until her demise. While actively involved in the church, she taught Sunday-School for juniors; she was the Assistant Baptist Training Union (B.T.U.) Director, and she was Secretary of Mission 1 for the Deaconess. Her favorite place to be was at the Church, and she never hesitated to help out in any capacity she was asked to perform. Her hobbies were cooking, canning, gardening, quilting, and working Word Search Puzzles; she always said Word Search Puzzles kept her mind active.
Survivors include seven out of eight of her loving children one of whom preceded her in death, M.C. Connally, Jr. (Annie) of Tacoma, Washington (deceased). Mary Connally Heck of Seattle; Tommie Lee Connally (Thelma) of Denver, Colorado; Martha Connally Ybarra of Kent, Washington; Mattie Connally Arrington of Edmonds, Washington; John Connally of Clarksville, Texas; Dovie Connally of Seattle, and Vernon Connally (Jan) of Federal Way, Washington. Maxine also helped to raise three of her grandchildren Tommy Connally, Patricia Connally, and Lawrence Connally all of Denver, Colorado. She has over eighty grand children and great grandchildren and a whole host of nieces (including Dorothy Faye Connally Phillips of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma who baked and sent her bread on all special occasions), nephews, relatives, and friends.
