Tillie was born March 16, 1925 in Emmons County, North Dakota. She was one of nine children born to Rochus & Eva Vetch. She died December 7, 2006 after many months of health complications.
Tillie married LeRoy Schuchard, July 5, 1944. They began their married lives at his family farm in Napoleon, ND. The following year the first of their three daughters, Delma, was born.
In 1950, the family moved to Woodinville, WA. During the first three years there, Tillie & Roy fostered four newborn babies. After daughters Sue & Cindy were born, they moved to Bothell, WA.
Tillie started cooking in restaurants to save for building a house. She gained a solid reputation for her cooking. Through the years, she was recruited by various restaurant owners to manage, plan menus and cook in their establishments. They knew her loyal customers would follow her, and her cooking skills would attract new fans.
In 1962, she & Roy built their house. In 1965 they built a two car garage, working evenings after dinner. She helped Roy cut up cords of wood every year. In 1982 she helped design the kitchen for their new church.
Tillie enjoyed making doll clothes for her girls, embroidering, crocheting, quilting, painting in oils, ceramics classes and creating cakes for church functions. She loved babysitting the grandchildren and her great grandson. Many weekends were spent camping. Almost every summer, Tillie and Roy drove to North Dakota. Everyone that tasted her dumplings wanted a return invitation.
Tillie is survived by her husband of 62 years, Roy, daughters Delma Rick Ofilas, Sue Morgan and Cindy Ken Smith; grand daughter Laurie Morgan, grandson Todd Smith and Great grandson Austin; Brother Joe, sisters Angie and Julie and many nieces, nephews and friends.
The family would like to thank Evergreen Hospice, Mariana Buloc and Bianca Powell for the loving care they provided in this last year. We would also like to thank our family and friends for their love and support.
