Pablo Bagsic Pizarro, 89 years of age, peacefully passed away on November 29, 2021 in Seattle, WA. He was born on February 19, 1932 in Orion, Bataan, Philippines to parents Primitivo and Petronila Bagsic Pizarro.
Pablo is survived by his wife of 63 years, Resurrecion ‘Ressie’ Ortega Pizarro and children: son Anselmo, daughters Paulette and Rosanna aka Anne (husband Anthony aka Tony); grandchildren: Andrew, Marinna (husband Michael), Paul, Isiah; great grandchildren: Sa'Mya, Ayden, Collins and Bellamy; brother Gonzalo (aka Along, Al) and sister Carmen Cuevas, and pet dog Max.
Pablo was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. He loved his family and was very proud of them. He traveled the world with his wife who he called ‘Mahal,’ the love of his life. He was also called by his great grandchildren ‘Mopas’ and ‘Papa.’ Some of his friends called him Paul.
He was also proud of being a member of the United States Coast Guard where he made it his career. He began his service in August 7, 1959 and retired in November 1, 1982 at the U.S. Coast Guard Academy, New London, CT. His proudest accomplishment was when he advanced to Chief Petty Officer. He said, "It was not as easy as I thought it would be. It was all sweat and sacrifice just to be with my peers, the CPOA. As was always said, the harder the conflict, the more glorious the triumph, and mind you, the USCG was the best job I ever had. Semper Paratus!"
His best memory of his time in the United States Coast Guard was when he was stationed in U.S. Coast Guard Loran Station, Iwo Jima, Japan.
Pablo received several service awards: Coast Guard Unit Commendation Ribbon with "O" Device; Coast Guard Meritorious Unit Commendation Ribbon; Coast Guard Good Conduct Medal with Silver Star representing six awards; Navy Expeditionary Medal; National Defense Service Medal and Cutterman Insignia (permanent).
Pablo was congratulated on his 24 years of honorable and outstanding service to his country and the United States Coast Guard. "Those of us who have served with you wish you fair winds, following seas and smooth sailing for a long and happy retirement," a quote from a letter from the Superintendent, United States Coast Guard Academy, New London, CT. Pablo made his home in Seattle, Washington.
To Honor Pablo, arrangements for a Burial at Sea by the United States Coast Guard will be made.
He will be missed dearly by his family, friends, and all who knew him.
