Peter "Clancy" Anthony Topalian, age 65, of Edmonds, Washington passed away on May 17, 2023. The youngest child of Peter Kevork Topalian and Bridget Mary Patricia (Roche) Topalian, Clancy was born on April 20, 1958 in Seattle, Washington. Entering the world with a howl and a crown of red hair, Peter was nicknamed Clancy by hospital nurses, and it stuck. Clancy attended St. Luke School and Seattle Prep, where he developed lasting friendships and a passion for running.
Clancy and Bessie met at Fircrest School where he served as an attendant counselor and manager. They married in 2008, honeymooning on St. Croix, in the Virgin Islands. Bessie’s family became Clancy’s family. Life centered around family celebrations and activities with children and grandchildren. Summer vacations took them to Hawaii, California, Oregon, Colorado, the Dakotas, and included theme and national parks.
Retiring at age 58, Clancy made use of his newfound freedom spending more time with his family and friends, skiing/snowboarding, running, mountain biking and windsurfing. He enjoyed working on a wetland project in the backyard, clearing out blackberries and other invasive species, and attracting waterfowl and other wildlife.
Clancy went for a final run on the evening of May 9, 2023. His unexpected passing came as an inexpressible shock to his family and everyone who knew him. He will be forever missed.
Clancy is survived by his wife, Bessie; children Stephanie (and Aaron), Rachel (and Lorenzo), and Tony; grandchildren Isaiah, Gabriel, Keilani, Noah, Colin, Aubrey and Tyson; brother Robert and sister Celia; and many other family members and friends.
A celebration of life for Clancy will be held Sunday, June 11, 2023 from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM at Evergreen Washelli Funeral Home & Cemetery, 11111 Aurora Ave N, Seattle, Washington 98133.
