Phyllis Chatel passed away peacefully in her home on Saturday, September 27 following a long and courageous battle with cancer. She will be lovingly remembered by her family and friends for her gentle spirit, kindness, and wonderful sense of humor. Phyllis was born in Yakima on April 6, 1939 and lived most of her life in Seattle. She married Louis Louie Chatel on April 29, 1967 beginning an adventure that would last for over 37 years. Most of her working life was spent with the KP Corporation in Seattle formerly Impressions Northwest where Phyllis was employed for over forty years and considered a second mother by many of her fellow employees. Phyllis was preceded in death by her loving husband Louie, her parents Harvey and Amy La Berge, her brother James La Berge, and her nephew Kim. She is survived by her sister Jeraldine La Berge Brashear, her brother Robert La Berge and his wife Debbie, her devoted friend Marilyn Heller, and many nephews, nieces, and other extended family and friends far to numerous to mention here. We all loved her very much and will miss her immeasurably. A memorial service will be held on Monday, October 6, at 12:00 p.m. at Evergreen Washelli Funeral Home in Seattle. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Fred Hutchinson Breast Cancer Research Program or Swedish Homecare/Hospice Services.
