Richard “Rick” Michael Coan, 74, of Lynnwood, Washington, passed away peacefully on July 7, 2025.
Born on April 8, 1951, in Seattle, Rick was the eldest of six children born to Richard and Evelynn Coan, both of whom preceded him in death. He grew up with his siblings—his twin brother Robert, Steven, Lanette, Terri, and Peter, on capitol hill in Seattle. His brother Steven sadly preceded Richard in death.
Rick lived a full and passionate life defined by his love of family, music, and sports. He was a talented drummer who spent many years playing in bands, sharing his gift for rhythm and music with others. A man of discipline and strength, Rick also earned a black belt in karate—a reflection of his dedication and spirit.
Rick was a lifelong baseball fan and a devoted follower of the Seattle Mariners. Whether at the stadium or watching from home, he never missed a chance to cheer on his team.
Rick’s life was shaped by meaningful relationships and personal loss. He was first married to Charlotte, who passed away in 1982. Together they had a son, Gabriel. After Charlotte’s passing, Rick married Elizabeth, with whom he adopted a son, Nicholas. Nicholas also sadly preceded Rick in death.
Later in life, Rick married Tracy, with whom he shared a caring partnership and became a stepfather to her son, Ryan.
Rick was a proud grandfather to four grandchildren: Brandon, Taylor, Jessica, and Trevor—each of whom he cherished deeply. Also surviving him is his daughter-in-law Brandy, Gabriel’s wife, who remained a loving and supportive part of his life.
Rick will be remembered for his kind heart, steady presence, and the music and love he shared so freely. His family and friends will forever hold his memory close and honor the legacy of a life lived with soul and strength.
