Robert Steven Dick passed away peacefully April 25, 2017 at his home after visiting with his family and friends in the weeks before his death. He was born in Portland, Oregon on the day before Thanksgiving, November 25, 1940. He was raised in the Shorewood area of Seattle. He attended ODea High School. He went on to employment at Kenworth, Continental Can, Bethlehem Steel. He finished his formal education at the MEBA Engineering School in Baltimore.
Bob married his beloved sweetheart Dorothy Bierman at St. James Cathedral in 1967. They went on to rescue the family concrete business in Bermuda and returned to Seattle in the 1980’s. He pursued a variety of hobbies; drawing, photography, landscaping, and of course investing. He was the ultimate perfectionist. His drawings are spectacular, his photos are breathtaking, his editing of photos and the ability to see a shot no one else could see set him apart in the world of photography.
Bob came down with melanoma in 2012. He volunteered to take experimental drugs that ravaged his body with numerous complications and loss. Nevertheless, his efforts along with many other brave souls have led to the introduction of immunotherapy treatments for cancer and prolonged the lives of thousands. He lost the fight to melanoma but his strength and courage were admired by all who cared for him over the five and a half years at Virginia Mason.
