Rose was an extraordinary woman and today we come together to celebrate her life. She had what one calls the "gift to gab" and she would oftentimes keep you captivated with her stories.
Rose worked for many years at Overall Laundry and the Seattle Public Library. She was a fixture in her Dawson Street community and was affectionately known as "momma Rose" to many.
Rose was an avid Bingo player, she enjoyed playing the card game Rummy, and occasionally hitting slot machines at the local casino. However, what she most enjoyed was the game Pokeno. A game she played every first Saturday of the month with family and friends for nearly 30 years!
To know Rose, was to hear her first (you all know what I'm talking about), and we were blessed to have this time with her. We will miss her, we appreciate her gift of love, and we will continue to honor and hold her dear in our hearts.
Rose is preceded in death by her husband, Doriel McKenzie, parents, Charles and Bernice Fletcher, and her brother Charles Goodwin Fletcher, Jr. Rose is survived by her daughter, Tracy Johnson (Secrest) and sons, Robert Secrest, and Keylon McKenzie. Also, her sisters, Sharon Evans, LaVerne James and Darlene Fletcher. Her grandchildren, great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.
