Sandra Lee Cohn, 85, beloved daughter, mother, grandmother, aunt, sister, sister in-law and friend, died peacefully in her home in Redmond, WA Thursday, January 18, 2024 surrounded by her loving family.
Preceded by death in August 2020 by her husband Irv of 64 years, her parents Sydney and Jean Sacks and her brother Calvin Sacks. Sandi leaves behind her daughter Lauren Cohn Sarabia and son in-law Patrick Sarabia, son Michael Cohn and daughter in-law Barbara Cohn, son Robert Cohn and daughter in-law Joy Cohn, and daughter Karen Cohn Ovetz and her husband Marc Ovetz. Six grandchildren, Jacob and Mariah Sarabia, Gabe and Nathan Ovetz and Ethan and Sasha Cohn.
Born and raised in Southern California in 1938. Business opportunities took Sandi and Irv to the South West where they lived in Salt Lake City, Utah and Phoenix Arizona. In 2007, upon retirement, they moved to Redmond, Washington and enjoyed being close in proximity to their youngest daughter and her family.
Sandi completed her AA degree from Pierce College in Woodland Hills, CA. She had a successful demonstration business in Salt Lake City called Tasters LLC., and was proud to have had the opportunity to empower many women with employment opportunities in the southwest and to hold the position of president of the national demonstrators organization for several years.
Sandi was a lifelong member of Hadassah and The City of Hope organizations. She served as the president of the Jewish Family Services in SLC, Utah and assisted several Russian families in their immigration to the USA in the 1980’s. Sandi had a strong commitment to volunteerism and was active in the PTA and Girl Scouts of America when her children were young and served on the board of several synagogues.
Sandi had a true sense of adventure and led her family on many camping, rafting and fun trips. She and Irv traveled to all five continents often accompanied by their closest friends, their children and grandchildren. Ever the optimist and said by many to be the most positive person they’d known, Sandi will be remembered for her “golden hands”, the ability to do anything she set her mind to perfectly and her joie de vivre attitude. Throughout her life and down to her final days, Sandi was a role model of love, strength, compassion, courage, integrity and grace. She was truly an exemplar of loving kindness. Sandi’s parting words to her family were to “Be honest, be kind and be happy”. Please honor Sandi by being all three.
